The Song Hero by Mariah Carey

The blog question this week is inspired by the Music Interpretation challenge for CreateCrochet Etsy Team

Which song most resembles you or your life? Why and how?

There are many songs that resembles me and my life. But the one song that touches my heart, soul and being is "Hero" by Mariah Carey. If you know the lyrics of this song, you'll know why. Let me put it down for you to read:

There's a hero

If you look inside your heart
You don't have to be afraid
Of what you are
There's an answer
If you reach into your soul
And the sorrow that you know
Will melt away

(And then a hero comes along
With the strength to carry on
And you cast your fears aside
And you know you can survive
So when you feel like hope is gone
Look inside you and be strong
And you'll finally see the truth
That a hero lies in you ) *

It's a long road
When you face the world alone
No one reaches out a hand
For you to hold
You can find love
If you search within yourself
And the emptiness you felt
Will disappear

repeat ( )*

Lord knows
Dreams are hard to follow
But don't let anyone
Tear them away
Hold on
There will be tomorrow
In time
You'll find the way

And then a hero comes along
With the strength to carry on
And you cast your fears aside
And you know you can survive

There was a time when I hated myself. At that time, a voice within me spoke to me and said that he loves me no matter if someone else loves me or not. Yes, it was a "He" and I don't know why. I've named this person my "Hero".

Whenever I'm afraid, whenever I'm sad, hopeless, all I have to do is look into my soul and talk to my hero. He gives me strength, he gives me the power to survive and strength to have the guts to face the world alone, no matter how tough it is. He is my best friend and so I never have to look for any other person as a friend, a guide. He speaks to me without speaking, in my mind, my intuition and he is always right.

I always visualize him as a man in a shining armour like a warrior or a king or a hero. Although, the amigurami hero that I created does not have a unicorn, I visualize him charging on a unicorn. He has the strength to carry me and so I cast all my fears and surrender to him, the hero that is "Me". There was an emptiness once when I didn't see him. But I never feel this emptiness anymore as I have a Hero in real life in the form of my hubby "Raaj".

If you noticed, I'm not selling this amigurami, just it's pattern. Why? Both me and my hubby love this song. I once sang this song to him as his birthday gift. and this amigurami is just another gift to him to show him that he is my "Hero".

Thanks Mariah Carey for singing such a beautiful song and giving me the inspiration for this challenge.

  1. Mamta,

This is so beautiful and insightful. I know the feeling of once hating myself and having a voice inside telling you that what others say is a lie and that you ARE a good person who matters! I am more and more amazed at the connection between us. Thanks for sharing this touching and wonderful part of your life. You GO GIRL!!!

  3. Thanks Marianne, it helps to stay positive.

Jess: Self confidence is something which everyone has. I was a meek child once and didn't know what self confidence is. But, I learned that the person in front of you doesn't know whether you really have confidence or just acting that you're confident. I acted and tried to overcome the fear by staying positive in all the bad things life did to me. It's not easy, but not impossible either. Thanks for the comment, btw. I appreciate it very much knowing how busy your schedule is.
